Fenland SOIL Site Open Days
DON'T FORGET TO BOOK!! We were out walking the crop at our PEF trial site yesterday. Crop is currently looking good, with a water table at 21cm as of yesterday.

Come and join us for our summer open days at our paludiculture site in the Norfolk Fens.
Our 3ha site on an intensive veg farms aims to understand if paludiculture can be commercially viable within an existing system. We are growing celery, chinese leaf cabbage and miscanthus to a commercial specification and are currently holding a water table at 25cm!

Our Open Days will involve an introduction to the project, followed by a tour of the farm and finishing with a visit to our trial site where we will be joined by our research partners who are carrying out our greenhouse gas, environmental and agronomic monitoring.
Paludiculture.org.uk at the Royal Norfolk Show
Paludiculture.org.uk stand was hosted at the Agri-TechE Innovation Hub at the Royal Norfolk Show this year. It was my pleasure to engaging with VIP’s, Farmers, Landowners, and the general public from Wed 28th -Thurs 29th June 2023. The stand was an opportunity to launch Paludiculture.org.uk to stakeholders and the full community alongside Andrea Kelly, Environment Policy Adviser, for the Broads Authorities, with their new Fiber Broads Project. The show had over 42000 people over 2 days visiting the Norfolk Showground. Visitors discussed and explored the future for lowland peat in the Broads Authority with paludiculture at a higher water table, still producing income for local farmers, whilst sustainably managing the peat soils in the area.

The Royal Norfolk Show is on the 28-29th June, at the Norfolk Showgrounds in Norwich, and Paludiculture.org.uk will be in the Innovation Tent with other Agri-Tech E stands, giving a glimpse of agriculture in the future. News of Paludiculture is spreading round the country following successful events in Cambridge, North-West, Ely and HumberHead and awards of the PEF funding, which will be announced soon, so there is sure to be a lot of new interest.
The Royal Norfolk Stand will help farmers and the general public to understand the concept of Paludiculture, what it might mean for our landscape in the future and how they can get involved. The Paludiculture Engagement Team from NIAB will be working with the…
