Grants interested in applying for:

Lowland Peat Water Discovery Grant

Region:

National/cross-region

Areas of expertise

Carbon accounting/ water management, Environmental monitoring (habitats, water quality), Hydrology, rewetting infrastructure, water management (e.g. tilting weirs, level-control structures), Farmer engagement/ knowledge exchange, Landscape scale planning (aligned with Defra's Landscape Recovery), Market innovation/ product development/ supply chain, Scientific research (ecology, soils, modelling, remote sensing, biogeochemistry)

Resources available

Monitoring and sensing equipment (e.g. hydrology, ecology, remote sensing) equipment, Staff time/ research capacity

Engagement interests

Using satellite data (SAR, optical), AI, ML, we can detect peatland conditions (water movement, carbon change, presence of vegetation, dry conditions, or fire), provide maps, data and forecasts. We prefer to contribute as a partner, (developing innovated methods, supplying materials, data, offering insights and supporting farmers) to monitor peatland.

Additional information

I have contributed to ESA and EU projects (in monitoring land use (including peatland, wetland and agricultural areas), retrieval of soil, vegetation properties and carbon emission), using SAR and optical data. I have more than 70 published articles in satellite applications. We have Apple, windows workstations, laptops and software to analyse satellite data. I am looking for partners with sites for trial and surface data for validation of satellite products.
