Bur marigold - a companion at planting?

Visited the Horsey paludiculture trial site in Norfolk (thanks Andrea and Andrew) that was established to explore cropping and water quality improvement - now part ofthe Fibre Borads project. https://www.paludiculture.org.uk/fibrebroads

Some in field discussions drawing from experience in the Netherlands highlighted that rapid ground cover by bur marigold as Typha was planted had helped with establishment.

We then got slightly diverted into talking about the rarer forms of the plant identified in Norfolk https://www.jeremybartlett.co.uk/2019/09/24/nodding-bur-marigold-bidens-cernua/

But is this an example of how nature might give us some options for companion planting?
