HumberHead - Thorne and Crowle Moors Walk

Brilliant sunshine and some of the brightest minds shone new light on peatland land-use issues and we saw some of the most innovative and cost effective solutions to the peat restoration/paludiculture land use conflict at Thorne and Crowle Moors Walk.
There is nothing like a walk in the country to clear you head and with the help of Natural England and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust. The path to better solutions for peatland management had been laid out in their previous day's workshops and now we were ready to explore on foot an extensive and impressive restored peatland.

The company of other talented peatland professionals turned the whole walk into a round table discussion, breaking down siloed boundaries to see the real opportunities for progress and change.
Contrasting views on management were reflected in the species and the look of the landscape we crossed, parcel after parcel of land gave a territorial feel and confirmed that land ownership was a tangible barrier to the prospects for change.

Despite the challenges our guides and hosts had impressively, maximised every aspect of management, with local landowner involvement and public engagement to move forward the debate and the landscape. Finally, we were able to reflect upon our experiences, discuss and scope out, plans for the future over a well-earned cup of tea.
